The standing rule

The standing rule

No firearm leaves the bench unless it's in safe working order.

If something isn't right when you get it back, I fix it free of charge.

If I break it, I buy it and replace it.

At the bench

What comes across the bench

  • 01

    Firearms repair

All manner of firearm repairs, diagnosed and corrected at the bench. Nothing goes back to the customer unless it is in safe working order — the only exception is a piece built purely for display.

  • 02

    1911 pistolsmithing

A 1911 slide clamped in a milling machine fixture mid-cut, fine steel chips curled on the table around the cutter

The work Dirk is known for, including Marvel cuts on 1911 slides. Precision pistol work handled by a certified pistolsmith rather than sent out.

  • 03

    Trigger jobs

Trigger work done to make the gun behave the way the shooter expects, without compromising the safety of the action.

  • 04

    Scope mounting

Optics mounted and set up properly so the rifle and the glass agree with each other before you get to the range.

  • 05

    Mill and machine work

Milling and machine work on firearms, including slide cuts. Custom work is quoted by the job after Dirk sees what's involved.

  • 06

    Critical safety inspections

A full inspection of the firearm's condition and function, so you know what you are carrying or handing down. If something is unsafe, you'll hear about it straight.

  • 07

    Firearms and equipment sales

Quality firearms and equipment for sale at the shop. No bargain-basement stock — if Dirk wouldn't stand behind it, he doesn't put it on the shelf.

Who brings work in

  • 1911 shooters

Marvel cuts, trigger work and precision pistol work at the bench.

  • Hunters & rifle owners

Optics mounted so the rifle and the glass agree before the range.

  • Carry permit holders

A critical safety inspection, so you know what you're carrying.

  • Handed-down firearms

A firearm whose condition nobody knows yet, checked and stated plainly.
